ROUTE PLANNING FOR K-12 TRANSPORTATION OFFICES

Your entire transportation operation. In one place.

You draw the routes. DirectTranspo keeps the roster, the addresses, the stops and the times straight — and keeps student data locked down while it does.

What it does. And what it deliberately doesn't.

Routing is your call. DirectTranspo is the tool that holds your plan together, not a black box that redraws it.

IT DOES

  • Plan routes by hand on a map
  • Import your student roster from a spreadsheet
  • Import your existing routes and stops from a CSV file
  • Check every address and flag the uncertain ones
  • Track stop and school times, and tell you when they're stale
  • Carry routes forward to the next school year
  • Track buses by GPS

IT DOESN'T

  • Auto-optimize or rewrite your routes
  • Dispatch drivers

Less to buy, less to train, less student data in motion.

HOW IT WORKS

From a roster file to routes you trust.

01

Import what you have

Upload the student roster you already have, as a CSV or Excel file. Bring in your existing routes and stops from a CSV file.

02

Check the addresses

Every address is matched to a map location. Uncertain matches are flagged for you to confirm, not quietly guessed.

03

Draw your routes

Place stops and build routes by hand on the map, the way you already plan them.

04

Keep times honest

Stop times use dwell defaults of 45 seconds per stop and 3 minutes per school. Edit a route and its times are marked stale until you recalculate.

05

Roll the year over

Start next year from this year’s routes, stops and times, marked as carried over and ready to edit.

STUDENT PRIVACY

Student data is the first requirement, not an add-on.

A route sheet is a list of children's names and home addresses. DirectTranspo is built to treat it that way from the first line of code.

Your district gets its own database

Not a shared table with a district column. Each district's records live in a database of their own.

Every look at student data is logged

The system records who viewed which student records and when, so you can answer that question if anyone asks.

Designed around FERPA and the NDPA

Built to the requirements of FERPA and the Student Data Privacy Consortium's National Data Privacy Agreement. Our Michigan data privacy agreement review is underway.

WHAT'S COMING

Route planning first. The rest of the transportation office after.

These tools are in development. They share one set of district records, so nobody types the same driver or bus in twice.

IN DEVELOPMENT

DirectTrips

Field trip and activity trip scheduling.

IN DEVELOPMENT

DirectDriver

The driver’s side of the office: what drivers see and submit.

IN DEVELOPMENT

DirectAdmin

The transportation office: personnel, duty-log approval, bus conduct reports and audit export.

IN DEVELOPMENT

DirectFleet

Fleet maintenance: work orders, preventive maintenance schedules, inspections and parts.

ABOUT

Built from the director's chair and the driver's seat.

DirectTranspo is built by Stephanie Bellinger, a Michigan K-12 transportation director who holds a school bus CDL and still drives a route at the end of every workday.

She built it because the tools she had either did too much she didn't need or too little of what she did. Every feature starts from a real transportation office problem, and every student-data decision is made as if it were her own district's data — because it will be.

“We didn’t guess what transportation departments need. We built DirectTranspo from the problems we solve every day.”

— Stephanie Bellinger
